Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during a session?

During sessions, our halogenerator grinds pharmaceutical salt to fine dust that is dispersed into the room for you to inhale. The salt rooms are designed for relaxation so you will want to sit back in our zero-gravity chair and breathe deeply. The doors to the salt room will close and remain closed during the session for the guest experience and also to make sure salt particles do not leave the room. If a guest arrives late we are not able to open the doors to the salt room to allow them in.

What does it feel like in a salt room?

The salt in the air is microscopic, and you don’t notice it too much, but you might taste a bit of salt! If you are very congested in the lungs, it’s normal to cough a little bit. If you are very congested in the sinuses, you may drain a little bit. Mostly, what it feels like is deeply relaxing. Negative ions become available to us as the salt is ground, and help us to get into deep states of relaxation/meditation.

Are there any side effects?

Halotherapy is 100% natural, drug-free, and safe. Post-session some people have experienced a runny nose, slight cough, or chest tightness. This is usually due to mucus and toxins becoming dislodged in the body and working out of the body.

What should you wear to your salt session?

You will want to wear comfortable clothing to your salt session. Please note that darker-colored clothing may show salt, but it can easily be brushed off and will not harm your clothing. While we have fresh blankets for sessions, some people prefer to bring their own blanket to lay on or cover up with. *If coming in for a skin condition, you will want to try to expose this area as much as possible. We have a restroom right near the Salt Room where you can change clothes if you want to bring a pair of shorts and a shirt.

What should expect to happen during my treatment?

Salt sessions last 30 - to 45 minutes and are in a room that is surrounded with Himalayan sea salt covering the ground. During a session, it is best to close your eyes and take deep cleansing breaths. Himalayan salt crystals provide negative ions that enhance the salt therapy experience.

Is it safe for children to have salt therapy?

Yes, salt therapy is completely safe for children. Our salt therapy room is made for fun salt playtime. *Parents are required to stay with their child ( or Children) and supervise them. There is no additional charge for one parent to attend with their child.

Is it safe to have salt therapy while pregnant?

Yes, it is completely safe and all-natural to have salt therapy while pregnant. We do recommend always consulting with your physician prior to any new treatment. Many pregnant women find relief from respiratory or skin issues while pregnant and are unable to take prescription medications. Salt therapy can also help boost the immune system.

Actively Sick?

It is a common misconception that the time to try salt therapy is while you are actively sick. However, the best time to seek salt therapy is when you are healthy and using salt therapy for a chronic illness or preventative treatment.

Smoking & Perfumes

We ask that anyone who is a smoker to please refrain from smoking prior to entering the salt room. If you smell smoke, you may be asked to reschedule. Relax is a smoke-free environment. The main reason we do not allow guests actively smelling of smoke is for our clients who have respiratory issues, like Asthma, COPD, or Cystic Fibrosis. The presence of exhaled smoke or chemicals in it can trigger a reaction or an attack. Please refrain from the use of any perfumes or essential oils before coming to Relax.  If you smell of heavy odors you will be asked to re-book, for another time.
